Albino Fawn (pics)
This had been my third encounter with this little guy since the opening of bow season. The first time I saw him was trying to recover my buck the second day of season. The next was last week when I didn't have a camera. Well last night when heading to the stand there he was and I had a camera in hand. I got pretty close to him on foot but he heard my approach and took off about 40yds. only to look back and try and figure out what it was. I don't think its eyesight is all that great...

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
That is pretty cool, great pics.

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
their eyesight usually isnt very good. even if it isnt that bad at birth, it quickly deteriorates.
|
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
Cool pics. Thats why I try to have a camera with me every chance I get.
|
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
Man I sure hope that little guy sticks around for you. Thats pretty cool you have something as rare as a true albino running around your woods.
Are albinos legal in MO? Not that long ago they showcased a huge 190 inch typical albino on North American Whitetail TV from Buffalo countyWI.Albinos are illigal to take in WI. It was pretty awesome! |
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
One good thing about Illinois is that it is against the law to shoot a albino deer. They are a protected species and should be every where.
|
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
That would be a sight to see out hunting..
|
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
the only bad thing i see is that if albinos are running around the woods with their bright colors then they will be easier to catch by predators and since there eyesight isnt good they wont be as difficult to catch. i cant beleive that an albino had a chance to make it to 190. if someone is in ohio they would take that deer becuz they arent illegal

buckeyebuckhntr,
Your statement isn't quite correct regarding albinos in Wisconsin. It is legal to shoot an albino deer, as long as it is less than 50% albino. I wouldn't shoot one anyway, unless maybe it was a trophy. Then it would be pretty cool on the wall. |
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
As far as I know it is legal to shoot an albino but I would call the conservation dept. to check. I wonder who his dad and mother were. I hope you havent shot them you may have the potential for more. All I can say is keep it to yourself or you will have everyone and their brother trying to kill that poor thing. If he gets bigger and you see him again i would be curios if they age the same.

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
Those are some really cool pics!

What you are referring to as less thanall whiteis called "piebald". [/align] |
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
There are also ones that are about 99% white that aren't Albino since they don't have the prerequisite pink eyes and nose and hoof.. So in some states that would be a legal kill and in others it wouldn't. I believe it doesn't matter if it is white or a true Albino in Illinois, they are protected.. I don't know when the piebald becomes brown enough to make it legal, never seen one, most likely never will but it would be interesting.

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
That wouldn't matter to some hill-jack country-bumkin. He ain't abidin' by now laws. He'll shoot it just to show it off to his hillbilly, inbred, uncle/cousin.
They are the SOB's that ruin it for the rest of us. ORIGINAL: Illinois Bowhuntin One good thing about Illinois is that it is against the law to shoot a albino deer. They are a protected species and should be every where. |

how beautiful is that....thanks for sharing.

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
the albinoism doesnt effect anything like aging or physical size but it can effect the eyesight alot because there eyes cant tolerate sun.
|
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
It's stupid to make them illegal. They are defects in the gene pool. I would drop him in a heartbeat. Then again, it would be hard to get another full body mount past the wife.

RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
Piebald's are leagal in MI, but not all white. I think it needs to be 50 % brown to harvest it.

Stupid stuff like this amazes me, it really does Piebald's are leagal in MI, but not all white. I think it needs to be 50 % brown to harvest it. Are melanistic deer protected ? Double throat patch deer ? Deer with overbites ? Deer with long bodies ? Short bodies ? Deer that just plain look pretty ? Where is hunting going with these stupid, stupid laws ! |
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
I've seen prettier deer. I saw one with some antlers and a red spot and a red spot on one side and a red hole on the other a few eeks ago.
Seriously....I don't think they're protected in NC. I'm no uncle-cousin....but I'd let the air out him in a minute. I don't own a full-body mount. Jeff |
RE: Albino Fawn (pics)
