I KNOW WRONG FORUM BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GET AN INPUT FROM YOU BOWHUNTERS THAT ALSO RIFLE HUNT. I am reposting this from my midwest post to get more than just the midwestern states. How many deer are taken in your state during firearms season. How long does your season last. The final count in missouri is a little over 205,000 in just 10 days. That averages to 20,500 deer per day. Hunters ended up taking 81,712 bucks with at least 4 points on one side. 31,366 button bucks and 92,382 does. that is roughly 1/5 of the statewide estimated total. Just on opening weekend alone hunters took half of the total. over 100,000 deer in just 24 hours of shootable hunting light. Buck harvest skyrocketed which is really good sign.

I wasn't able to google up anything for WI but here are last year's totals for all combined deer harvested (regardless of weapon or season) I presume this year will be similar.

166,813 bucks

350,177 antlerless

517,169 total harvested

The following is ARCHERY only:
33,635 bucks
69,854 antlerless
103,571 total harvested

Thats a good chunk of deer in WI. How long does your season last? I think our total harvest is somewhere around 250,000 deer. For some reason deer harvest is down this season but I have seen many deer. Last year harvest was up and i didn't see squat. Funny how that works.

WI's regular gun season ended today. Muzzleloader is sometime in December. There's another metro unit's deer reduction season in December. Then Archery ends January 3. At 5:30pm on Jan 3, I'll behesitantly walking out of the woods, stand on my back, bow in hand, tear in eyes.

does your WI gun seson happen at the end of the rut or out of it. Doesn't your rut come before missouri?

I could only find numbers as recent as the 2002 season! So here in MA 12,264 in 02, I believe last year was up around 14,000. Hahahahahahah
People complain around here about too many deer and them being a nuisance. I say F$3K no we need MORE DEER! where I hunt is about 5 per square mile.Headin out now LATER

Why is that a "good" sign? Personally I'm glad I'm on the West side of the river and can actually see across the river from some of my stands into Missouri where the gun slaughter season is right in the middle of prime time rut....really sucks for bow hunters!!! [] At least they have AR now but look at all of those buttons killed....geez!
