RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
I've hunted every day this year without a safety harness The above satement from.........."The Mind". Jeff |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
Worry more about the auto accident going to your hunting area. Worry more about being overweight and in poor health. Worry more about getting shot by a fellow hunter.
The chances of falling from a tree stand are very, very slim. Should I wear one ? Probably. Do I ? Rarely. My perrogative, my choice. I'm a middle aged man in good shape and health, I wear my seat belt, I eat healthy and I excercise four to five days a week at least. That I don't wear a safety belt in the woods is a choice that I make because I'm comfortable where I am. I do have a very good safety harness that cost $100 I believe, I just don't wear it very often. If you want to be really safe, don't climb a tree. Or don't go hunting. Or wear a helmet. |

RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
Worry more about the auto accident going to your hunting area. I'm not sure one three people drivers operating a vehicle will sustain the type of injuries that a person that falls from a stand will sustain, or if one in three hunters will get shot during their lifetime. |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
yeah, yeah, yeah.....
Reminds me of the guy bragging about being 23-0 and ranked number 1 in the world at Russian Roulette. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Jeff |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
I'll hunt my way, you hunt yours. BobCo19-65I highly doubt those numbers.
How many guys posting on this thread are fat bastards that are more likely to die of a heart attack than falling from a tree stand ? how many of the people responding here smoke cancer causing cigarettes or chew cancer causing tobacco or are alcoholics ? in fact, the reason most guys falls i'd bet is because they're overweight and are not in good physical shape. anyway, i'll hunt my way you hunt yours. i encourage everyone to wear a safety belt, it is the safest thing to do. and eat right, and excercise and wear your seat belt and drive the speed limit and watch for deer along the road too. |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
I run 20 miles a week. I don't smoke or use tobacco products. I am 6'1" and weigh 191 lbs. I am an ex-collegiate baseball player and I was a PGA Professional.
That being said..... It's no big deal to me if you don't wear your harness. I just don't want any kids to see your post and think it's "OK" not to wear one. I'll ask THIS, though......How good is your insurance? No chance us other guys will have to pay if you fall, is there? Jeff |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
Ya know, all that exercise, eating right, and driving the speed limit, will turn into a big waste of time the instant you fall. I really hope that the people who care about you can talk some sense into you.
I know people like you. One of my friends does the same thing. He says that because his stand is so high, he is too scared to fall asleep. I've tried talking to him but he refuses. I guess some people's elevators just don't quite make it all the way up. |
RE: Another falls and is in a body cast.
Iv hunted 2 times from a stand and dont have a safety harness. On the way there the first day i said to myself. I hope the guy has a saftey harness. But he didnt. Im thinking aboutbuying one. Its just i dont own a stand and havnt gotten around to buying one.

I suspect The Mindto beno more than 14 years old. His body may be but definetly not the mind. I'm envisioning a Bevis & Buthead type. |
