thanks for the replies. ya i knoe whatch the shoulder. i learned it the hard way. what really sucks is that was the first deer i ever have gotten close enough to to let and arrow go. i really felt bad about injuring him and really hope he lived through it.

I switched to the XP Spitfires this year. Shot 2 deer with 'em, first one went around 80 yards, left a bloodtrail a blind guy could follow. The second one was quartering towards me, put it between the shoulder blades and it exited behind opposite shoulder. I didn't even look for the blood trail as it piled up in 50 yards or less in plain sight. I'm shooting a 70lb bow, with carbon arrows at 256fps.

i am shooting a reflex buckskin at 68 pounds and with all the add ons i think it dropped me down to about 275 to to 280 fps. i also took a quartering towards me shot and that bone tore my broad head up. it was after the fact that i learned that a quartering towards shot was bad. I also figured on my arrow hitting a little farther back. Another thing is is that i thought since he was so close it should go through just about anything. I guess you live and learn the hard way at least i will know better for next time.
