GOT MY ARCHERY BUCK-PIC'S
 

On Nov 10th at 4:20pm I arrowed this 6 point buck. He presented me a broadside shot at 25 yards and was looking away from me but stopped with a tree covering his heart and most of his lungs where the scent trail I had layed down ran in front of me, I knew he was heading for the turnip field and if I didnt shoot now I would lose my chance for a shot at him so I had to go for a liver shot. My arrow found the liver and I got a good pass threw shot. After climbing down the tree with my climber and locating my arrow I walked to the truck and calmed down and put some of my stuff away I then returned to the shoot sight and I marked the last place I had seen him at after the shot and decided to let him bed down and bleed out overnight and return to track him in the morning.
He is just a 6 pointer but to my surprise The Taxidermist aged him at 4 1/2 years of age. Here are some pic's.

OUTSTANDING six-pointer. Normally I wouldn't shoot a 6 pointer, but I've never seen a 6 like THAT around here!! Congrats!!

Absolutely Beautiful! What an animal. I love the fact that it's a six point. I read "six point" and expected to see a little buck like my six point and then I scrolled to the picture and saw this monster. I laughed out loud! Congrats....

Thanks For all the Congradulations and I'll try to answer some of your questions.
First of all as for how far he traveled after the shot, lets just say much farther than I liked... he crossed a large CRP Field and through a thin strip of thicket and then across another CRP Field and to the North East corner of the field. I found very little blood trail across the second CRP Field but did find blood where he had bedded down twice within5 yards of each other... I from there found no blood trail to point me in his direction but did notice a small for the most part dry creek with a few small pools of water left in it. I noticed a deer trail down the steep creek bank with fresh deer skidding tracks in it and then the wind shifted and swirled for a moment and I thin smelled a Rutty Buck .... and that is the only reason I found him just up on the other side of the creek bank behind a thick and thorny bramble surrounded deadfall.
No I didnt drag him out by myself... thank God for my Husband !!! It took the both of us working and dragging him together to drag him out of the thicket and down and then back up the steep creek bank. From there we were able to take him out by takeing turns pulling the deer cart to the truck.
No he wasnt anything more than a 6 pointer... he had the beginning bumps on his main beams that looked like they would of developed into G3's maybe next year...and one of them was slightly chipped off but it was obvious that it wasnt big enough to be more than 5/8th of an inch tall this year.
I shot him in Vermillion County Illinois... You otta see some of the bucks that I have seen come out of Vermillion County and Piatt County Illinois this year... I have pic's of several 190 Class, and some 180 class and lots of 150 thru 170 class Bucks.
On another hunting area I hunt in Piatt County Illinois I had to pass on shots on 3 different occasions I had at the same 160 class buck within shooting range because it was a shot a doe 1st property and I hadnt gotten my doe there yet... it took every ounce of self control I had not to arrow that big buck:(
