Default API Packmaster? anyone try one yet?

Just seen these advertised on OLN Buckmasters. Looks pretty slick been thinking about building one but just couldnt get it done. Just wondering if anyone tried them yet? If you havnt heard about them it is a hang on stand with a telescoping climbing stick mounted right to the stand. Looks slick.

I seen this too and thought it looked slick. I might have to put one on my want list. The only thing is, it would have to be a fairly straight tree to use it.

i had a friend that bought one last year, ended up taking it back to bass pro shop. I think his exact words were something about it being a "mickey mouse " design. He said the clips that hold the ladder section together were made of cheap plastic and he didn't trust it to climb a tree, and it also required a very specific diameter of tree that was hard for him to find where we hunt. When he showed it to the manager @ BP they actually took them off the shelves for a while. don't know if they got the design fixed but i would check into that if I were you.

I'm sure it's safe. All stands built by reputable manufacturers are tested at independant laboratories for safety and design specs. They break several stands to make sure they meet load limit restrictions and heat and freeze them to test effects of weather. Home builts never have that. You may be more confident in your building skills than that of others but do you ever test your stuff and then build another one? That being said: Nope haven't seen one.

EDIT: I just went to API's website and they no longer list that stand as one of their products. Maybe it wasn't safe?! Probably wasn't very popular for some of the reasons listed. Couldn't find it on a couple of other sites as well.
