RE: Why do you hunt?
I just love being out there in the woods. It's quiet, peaceful, and the adrenaline rush you get every time you see a deer is priceless. I'm kind of an adrenaline junky anyway. I'm new to hunting still and want to pass it down to my kids as well. I got a late start, don't want that to happen to them.

I hunt in central Mo.actually I've hunted in many different locations in central Mo.my reason is:I get up and out early, see what sounds I hear before sunrise.the many bright colorful leaves in late Oct.cool, crisp with a little light frost on the ground.sometimes I would hunt on a ridge top that had a great veiw ,sometimes i'd just sit in my stand and watch the cows play with my turkey decoys!:D

RE: Why do you hunt?
I watched a show on TV a few weeks ago....and the host asked a European stag guide the same question...."Why do you hunt"? He answered it the best I've ever heard anyone do so....and it fits me. He said (and I paraphrase): The better question is....Why do some men NOT hunt? He went on to say that hunting was a natural trait/characteristic that is somehow genetically being lost. Hunting is NATURAL.....and the fact that the instinct is becoming EXTINCT in some .....is a sad commentary.
Jeff's take: Hunting is natural. "I" can't explain why I love to hunt any more than I can explain why the shape of my wife's body makes me melt. It just "does".....and I just "hunt". I wouldn't feel right if I were deprived of either. I think we should all learn to ask people...."Why DON'T you hunt?". We are NOT the ones that need to explain ourselves. I hope everyone has a great ending to their hunting season. Then go fishing....!!! Jeff |
RE: Why do you hunt?
That's like asking 'why do you breathe.';)
|
RE: Why do you hunt?
It's a primal passion and drive that I was born with. There are a bunch of fringe benefits that go with that and most of them have been listed above.
|
RE: Why do you hunt?
Because I haven't yet found a way to get the deer to walk into camp and surrender on their own. :D;)
|
RE: Why do you hunt?
challenge, experiences, sights, instead of buddies I prefer to hunt solo and relish that

RE: Why do you hunt?
I love the outdoors! I was born and raised into hunting and fishing. I love being in the woods in all weather and all seasons. Watching animals, regardless if I am hunting them or not. I enjoy the comradery with other hunters.I also enjoy the peacefulness and the chance to get away from the rat race for a while.

RE: Why do you hunt?
MEAT(love it)
other then that, I would like a P&Y. |
RE: Why do you hunt?
Great way to spend time with family and friends also fun to be so close to animals and for them to not have a clue that your there.
|
RE: Why do you hunt?
1. The meat
2. Escape from everyday life 3. Escape the wife 4. Enjoy watching nature, I like to see how close I can get to an animal 5. The comeraderie, spending time with friends I list this one last, but to me it is the most important. Hunting is the only place on this earth where I can TRUELY be myself. I am not second guessed, argued with, told what to do, or rushed. I make my own decisions, in my own time, under my own thoughts, with no one else's "feelings" to take into consideration. Nature doesn't care who I am, what I do, where I come from or how much money I make. Nature doesn't care who my friends are, who I am married to, what my parents think, what my boss tells me, or what to do next. Nature just cares that I show up and pay it some attention sometimes. |

RE: Why do you hunt?
I hunt because in a world were people can do nothing for them selfs I can take the resposibility in my own hands togo out and take life from another living creature.
It gives me the chance to melt into nature and feel the same things hunters befor me have felt. It makes me forget about the world I have to livein every day. It is not the kill, I dont even like to kill. |
RE: Why do you hunt?
for the challenge, to relax, im 20 and in college its the only time i get to spend with my old man, and like the other guy said we're the future

RE: Why do you hunt?
I hunt because it's a cheap hobby.;)I mean, what other hobby can you spend $4-800 on a tool to use, $100-$300 on a platform to stand on, $100 on carbon arrows to lose in the woods, $30 on broadheads to lose with the arrows, $100 on a harness so you don't kill yourself, $100 or so on footwear, another $100 or so on a jacket, another $100 or more on pants; and this is just for warm weather....I'm not getting into windy, rainy or cold conditions, they all need separate suits also. Then a couple hundred for the butchering of a couple animals that you lucked out on and actually took home in the $22,000 truck you just bought. You simply can't get that cheap of a steak anywhere else...........and I tried sitting next to those yellow signs along the highways, it didn't work.......I never got to shoot my $100 arrows, and the meat was always old..............So in a nutshell, that's why I hunt....:)
Oh yea, I love the woods too. I love the sunrise, sunset, the chilly breezes, chattering teeth, the snow hitting me in the eyes, even the rain, does nursing fawns, bucks sparring, hoofprints in the leaves, buck grunts in the thickets, nervous/excited shivering and shakes, the sound of a bowstring twanging, the sight of my arrow zinging through the air, and grabbing that antler and dragging what's it attached toright to the truck. You can keep your football games guys, I'm going out in the woods! |
