here is my situation on one side of the road there is some private land which i know carrys deer but if u cross the road theres a field which is not private it is open for prolly .75 of a kilometer than it turns into like 50 yrds of willows then opens up into about 200 yards of field once again then goes into thick timber. iam wondering were i should put my portable treestand i know the deer from the private land travel thro the field into the timber side. i would like to set up on the timber side i think because this year a buddy lost a deer because the farmer would not allow us on his land to track the deer. what do u guys think?

Find the trails leading into the thick timber and set up 20- 30 yds in from the field. Great spot to be in before sundown. There could also be a well used trail running the length of the willows in the middle. I'd check that out also.

That 50 yard spot you mentioned with the willows sounds like a good funnel to the timber. I would try that from what you described. make sure you always put the wind in your favor, everything else is just patience.
