Everytime I think of my four year old boy who has a brain tumor and says he wants to go deer hunting with me when he grows up.

Talon- I think I would cry everyday if I was in your spot. I have 2 little boys and it makes me literally sick to my stomach to hear of situations like what your boy is going through. My thoughts are with you.

RE: Ever cry in the woods?

I know how you feel, believe me. The night before gun season opened here in Indiana, my daughter came into my room and wanted to know why dad looked so sad? When she saw what I was doing , she said never mind, now I know. I was cleaning up my hunting bow for the year, and it felt like someone had punched me in the gut. I do gun hunt, but I just don't get the feeling from it like I do when I have a bow in my hands. I have two young boys, and since I killed a nice buck on halloween, I devote most of the gun season to taking them out. If they don't get one, I will try for a doe the rest of the shotgun season, or in the late muzzleloader season. I know I could keep on hunting with my bow, but I already did what I set out to do this season, and it means as much to me to be with my two little hunters. God, please let October 1st get here quick again. Good luck.

Talondale, God bless you and your little man. I said a prayer for you both, and always remember what the bible tells us, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. God bless you both. I am sitting hear with tears running down my face, because your few brief words touched me to the core. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Well since my buddy owns 120 acres or so, and I gave him a bow, I'm sure if I get to hunt your3/4 of an acre, I can spare a peep sight or something....:);) All my landowner's get a present....

Talondale........I bowhunt with a guy in WVwho's son is in a wheelchair. Every time we leave for the day, his boy see's us off, and you can tell he's saddened by the fact that he'll never hunt the way we do again. He get to hunt, a lot, but not like we do. I realize the situation is different with you, but the thoughts for me are the same......stories like your's and my friend in wheelchair make me try as hard as I can to not take what I have and what I can do for granted. When I hunt with my buddy, and I sometimes complain over the radio about the rain, the wind, or an uncomfortable treestand, he radios me back and says "quit pouting, my boy would give anything to be back out in the woods with us getting soaked." He's not mean about it, and I'm never completely serious about my complaints, but it gives me that quick reality check that I need once in awhile. You just gave me another one. I really hope/pray your little boy gets to see the woods someday.

I'm thinking about getting one of those pop-up blinds and going to a county I hunt that has deer running all over it just so he can sit with me in there and look for deer. Even if he plays gameboy all day or whatever it will be a good time spent with him.

Exactly Talon. Anytime spent in the woods with a father and son are worth even if one falls asleep or they both get their deer. Get him in the woods. I admire you and pray that everything works out for the both of you. Believe me when he sees Daddy shoot a deer it will live forever in his heart and yours.
