Arrowed a buck......need help!!!!
This morning I arrowed buck. After I shot him he did a semi fast walk for about 30 yards stopped and looked around and then continued on walking. I waited 45 min before even getting down out of the stand. I walked over and picked up the arrow. It was mostly a clearish color fluid on it with a few tiny and I mean tiny chunks. It didn't have an overwhelming smell to it or anything. Any suggestions? This was at 7:45 am and now I am home trying to figure out what to do.

The walking away part sounds like a gut or liver/gut shot. Got to let the deer sit for 4-6 hours. They'll eventually die but you DO NOT want to spook or push'em. Patience. Make sure you mark the start of the blood trail if there is one but then sit tight and pursue later.

I agree with the others, DO NOT push that deer! I have made that mistake before, and its never good. Wait atleast 4-6 hours and go back with help to follow the trail. Be sure to take your bow just in case a final shot is needed. GOOD LUCK!

Does the arrow have a smell to it?
Where do you think you hit him?
Did you find any blood or hair at the point of impact?
If there was what was the color?
Was the deer hunched up when he stood or acting in any way "strange"?
Bottom line do not push him. Not bad weather wise in the midwest, I might even wait until tomorrow before tracking this guy. Let us know the details and keep us informed.

I would wait until tomorrow morning before tracking, or at least until 2 hours before sundown today. The only thing I can think of is you severely undershot the buck and just grazed his paunch. When you go back tomorrow, mark where you lost saw him. If you know the property well, do not be surprised if he headed towards water and thick stuff. If you do not have good knowledge of the property, I would get someone who does or get a topo map. Also, do not be suprised if you do not recover this buck, a slight paunch wound could mean he is a mile away...but don't give up.
