If it was public land I wouldn't say anything, but if It happened on my private land I would say something and call conservation.

If I was on public land, I wouldn't yell at the guy. I would either turn on a flashlight and get something out of my bag (morning) or cough loud enough for him to hear. The person would have to be close or moving straight towards me though.

I had that exact thing happen to me the last time I was out.

In my stand by 5:30am. Nice any early, well before dawn. Just as the sky was turning from black to dark blue, another hunter walked up and stood right under my stand. I figured he would move on in a second so I waited quietly. When he pulled out his flashlight and starting shining it up into the surrounding trees (looking for a tree for his climber) I hit him with a flash from my SureFire. I figured that he would get the hint and move along quietly. Instead this momo decides to strike up a conversation with me. "Have you been seein' anything?", "Been huntin' here long?", "Is that your buddy I passed comin' in?".

After asking him to move along, I could hear deer snorting and blowing, and being blown out as he thrashed through the brush right at first light...........I didn't see a single deer that morning.....grrrrrrr.

I usually will signal them so that they don't set up near me. During gun season I definitely want them to know where I am so they don't send bullets my direction. Happened to me last weekend. I was feeling a little depressed because they went towards the direction I was watching. They came back out at 8:30! A doe crossed their trail 3 minutes after they left though. LOL.

I hunt my farm and this happen last year to me. I started a pleasant conversation with the guy. I ask if he hunted here much, and did he see anymore tree stands to hunt. He replied back no, but he has wanted to hunt here for awhile. After 5 min of small talk I informed him I was the owner, he turned as white as a ghost. I walked him off my property, and told him to have a nice day!!!

Heres a story, and its true. Remeber last week when it was 70+ degrees in NY. Well, here I am sitting in my stand, I see 2 ladies walking around taking pictures of each other. They never had a clue I was there. So, I said nothing as they wlked off into the deeper woods. What could I do, oh, well.

Mrbuster, you should have started a silent stalk. Could have produced some action!

If it was on my land I would ask him what in the world he was doing. If I was on public land usually a whistle from you will let the other hunter know that you are in the area and will usually turn him around.

Id cough or whistle loud enough for him to hear me. Then inform him thats this is private property if i was on public landi would do the same and hope he had the common sense to move a long a considerable distance away from where im hunting. Unfortunately some people are just not to smart.
