It was 83 degrees when I left the house the day I killed this buck. It was Oct 19th 2003, by the time I settled into my stand I had sweat dripping everywhere. Even move surprising I shot the buck at 4:45 in the afternoon, a full 2 hours before dark.

This year it was 74 on Oct. 1. That is the hottest here, I've hunted deer. You guys in the 80's and beyond must have butchered your deer very fast.

Thanks to everyone for replying. Now I will feel more confident that I've got a shot at getting a deer when it is warm outside!

Sept 15th 2002, first day of season, a doe at 85 degrees. Dragging no problem due to ATV. Butkeeping off the flies while you try to skin / quarter it is a PIA. You can't let 'em lie long in that heat though. I don't take shots in that kind of heat unless I'm 100% sure of the shot. Make sure the shot is a good one. A guy on our land shot one in September and had it spoil. He got a gut shot and the combo of shot placment and letting it lie overnight was too much. As long as you get on it quick, and get the guts out so it can cool, the meat will be fine.
