Just curious, how much money have you speant bowhunting? Equipment, tags, ect. Post how long you have been hunting too. I wanna see what i'm looking foward too. Also how much are hunter and bowhunter ed course usually?

It's kind of like crack or heroin once you start you can't stop.

Been hunting since I was about 5 but have spent thousands on archery related hunting, and hunting in general, ever since I had to start buying stuff myself. I am 31 now.

hell I've spent THO$AND$ and that is just on out of state licenses alone! In 20 years I have probably literally spent around $50k on bowhunting alone (and that is a conservative estimate).

Look at it this way, hearses DONT have trailer hitches, you work for what? and if you dont spend it your wife and kids will...

To much to consider, but it was good this year. I didnt really want to change anything on my set up cause i like the way it is, so all i had to buy was a dozen arrows before turkey, and refletch them for deer, and get some new broadheads and i was set. Really cheap year.

I didn't spend much this year because I started college and I already have everything. But I made about 3,000 a year for 3 years in highschool and spent at least 2,000 of it every year on huntings stuff.

I've only been hunting 3 years now (2 years with bow and 1 with gun). I started off kinda cheap because I didn't know if I was going to like hunting or not. First year: bought used Winchester 3030--$200 + $100 on licenses, second year bought a used PSE bow off ebay and some accessories--about $100 + $100 on licenses....this year I went out and bought a lifetime hunting license $650, new bow $400, and a few accessories $100. So in 3 years I've spent about $1600 +. As you can see, I've enjoyed every minute since I started hunting. It's very addictive and once you start, you just can't stop. My wife has probably about had it with me, she just doesn't understand how I can enjoy sitting out in the rain, snow, or cold so much. I love every second I get to spend out in the woods and it's probably gonna cost me several thousands more over the rest of my life. It's not a cheap thing to get into, but it sure is relaxing, frustrating, and exhilarating all at the same time.

Hunting 45 years. has gotten expensive the past 10 years.Average around 500 a year,including equipment ,updated stuff,licenses,animal processing

like some others have said,"you dont want to go there" lol. but look at it this way. if you spend all that money on equipment,atleast in the end you have something to show for it. look at the drug adicts. when there done they have nothing at all. i tell my gf all the time. man hunts so he doesnt kill his woman.lol

I can already see i'll be spending $1500 on gear and permits alone my first year, but when you find somthing that makes you happy ya gotta do it, that's whats life is all about.

I've been hunting with a bow for a long, long time. I couldn't even begin to add up all the money I've spent. Nor would I want to. ;)I can honestly say though that I've spent far, far more on equipment for shooting archery tournaments than I ever did on hunting.[:-]

Over the past few years, I've been getting into making selfbows. Kinda neat shooting a bow that didn't cost you anything but some time, sweat and elbow grease. Given the choice between spending $1500 and FREE, I'll take FREE.;)

Of course, the $1500 stuff will shoot an arrow about 125-150 fps faster than the free bow, but the free bow has one major advantage. I don't have listen to any complaints from my wife about how much money I've spent.[8D]

Buying hunting equipment is kinda like buying a car. You can spend just about as much or little as you want. If you have to have the newest, fastest, bestest watchamacallit on the market all the time, you'll spend LOTS of money. If you decide what you want/need way before hand and shop (retail stores, forums, online) you will be surprised how much money you can save. It doesn't have to be the newest, fastest, etc, etc, to be good, capable piece of equipment...all that being said, I've spent thousands on my junk, too.:)

Hunting with bow since '92
License ~ $50 ($12.50 each for general, big game, bow, muzzle) a year + $250 on a lifetime lic. 2 years ago. Which saves me buying $12.50 general hunting lic. each year.
bow ~ $450 with quiver and dozen arrows
arrows ~ 3 more dozen at $60 a doz.
broadheads ~ $45 for a dozen thunderheads and replacement blades.
camo ~ $500 over my whole life (I don't buy it unless it's on clearance)
rock climbing harness ~ $60 each (on my second one)
Climbing static rope ~ $25
Misc ~ $300 (bags, calls, etc)
binocs ~ $99
videos ~ $200 (clearance)
stands ~ $400 (clearance again)
Processing fee ~ $40 every other year (I'm picky and don't mind going without a deer some years)
Gas ~ Hate to think about it.
Food doesn't count since I'd eat anyway.

Well... um... i don't keep track of it because I'd end up shooting MYSELF with the equipment! LOL Seriously, this year alone it's been (what I can remember)...

$200 on my bow (Ebay)
$200 on a bow for hubby (consignment at our local archery shop)
$160 on a bow he didn't like and I have yet to resell
$60+ on licenses SO FAR, but it will go up to $110 after this weekend
I will be spending $70 on a blind tomorrow
$40 on broadheads
$20 on fletching
Will probably be spending $220on a muzzleloader for hubby in the next few days (haven't decided if I'm gonna surprise him with it yet or not, depends on what my commission check is like Thursday)
LOTS on gas... probably upwards around $300
will spend $40 on ammo for this weekend
$20 on scents
$40 on a coat for my daughter so she can go with us
$100 on Alpha Burly's for me :)
Just spent $40 on christmas presents for my hubby (hunting related) last night

Once again... you can add it up... and it's been a CHEAP year so far... :eek:

WOW, this has got to be a trick question. Well, not only do I bow hunt, rifle hunt, fish I also have a Yamaha 660 Grizzly. So lets just say

Like Josh said, I've spent enough in the 20+ years I've been hunting to pay for 2 trucks.....Cash! I would say I average about $2500.00 per year. Huntin' in Texas ain't cheap.

I have been bow hunting 15 years and the last 10 pretty seriously. I spent almost 1000 bucks about 10 years ago on a nice bow and setup. Since then, nothing else except new arrows and new broadheads and a new bow string a few years back. I'd say in 15 years I spent maybe $1500.00 total. My stand and camo and hat and boots have been with me since 1990...I stay away from those scent killers, gimmicks and other MUST HAVES...I was successful before those came on the market and I continue to be successfull without them. I'm also a cheap son of a ^%$#@ too!

It's the trips and out of state license fees that really start to add up. On a good yearyou could drop over $3k total in just getting "there" money. Start mounting a bunch of trophies.... at $400+a pop, ouch. A little land owner grease money here, a little overweight baggage cost there ...

My best/worst year I had licenses in 6 states totalling about $1500, in just licenses.

The total figure would definietely verify my "addiction" and not just passion.

I'm cheap.:D...... BUT.... my venison cost about $113.00 a pound I figure...maybe $213.00.[&:] Honestly, it's not about the money....except to my wife.[&:][&:] She keeps track every year on the Master Card statements. She'll come to me around tax time with "Do you know how much you spent on hunting last year". To which I usually come back with, "NO, but I'm sure you're going to tell me". It seems a typical year is $1,500 to $2,000. But, you have to remember I take a couple short trips to NY every year and buy the non resident license($250). One year I bowhunted 5 states and racked up close to $1000 just in tags. I don't count such things as 4 wheel drive trucks etc[&:]:eek: And I'm hunting all free land, no leases or anything like that. Like I say, I'm cheap. I've been bowhunting for 35 years and have owned only 5 bows including the recurve I started with. Some folks change bows like I change underwear. IN fact, I bet the Blue Undies are much older than most peoples bows. Short answer, in 50 years of hunting.... a lot of money. I'm slowing down now though. I suspect I'll be around $1500-2,000 again this year, NOT counting my new 4 wheel drive truck.

I honestly can't say what I've spent total...but I know its lots. I would say yearly I'm in the $1000 range between new gear, tags, and just misc. stuff. Although I do spend a good deal on hunting, I wish I had more to spend!!!

This is my first year bowhunting and I've spent more than I want my wife to really know about. She has a good idea of the amount but I sure don't want her to investigate the hard facts. Oh BTW,After making my 1st bow kill, a hog, I had to go out and upgrade my bow because I knew I was hooked for life. The bow I replaced wasn't yet a year old. Now that I've killed a deer can I upgrade again? hmmmm.....
