Got one last night
#1
Well after having the bow hunters curse this year and losing 2 deer this year. I finally got one. Not that Im bragging about it, but i felt kind of bad for taking this one. It was ayearling buck with 1 1/2 inch spikes. Considered antlerless in WI. He came out behind mamma but he couldnt use his back right leg that well and he looked as if he was having a hard time keeping up with mamma. I had originally planned on taking her but whenI saw this little guy suffering I figured it was the right thing to do. Any opinions?

Noble thing to do, I would've done the same thing, no reason to take a healthy deer when there is an obviously not-so-healthy one right behind it. You probably saved him a lot of suffering.

you did the right thing! i did 2 yrs ago on a yearling doe, gun season, second drive of the day. she had been hit in the shoulder already, andicould not stand to let her go by knowing she was hurt bad. i put her out quick!

A few years ago, I shot a deer that had a bad rear leg and had targetted another deer that year that had lost the use of a front leg. She got close several times, but never gave me a shot. You did the right thing.
