Default Good climbing stand for a big guy.

I'm a fairly big guy. 6 foot and 245lbs. What is a good, quiet, climbing stand that is easy to move and climb in?

That's not that big. Most of them on the market are rated to 300.

I see alot rated at 250lbs. With gear on, I'm over that.

API - Grand Slam Extreme Magnum.

I'm 6'2" 325 pounds, and I'm very comfortable in it.

I'm just about your size, and I have a Summit Viper. Love it.

If you wanted something bigger, you could go for the Summit Goliath, which is rated to 350 pounds.

I believe all of the Summit climbers are rated to at least 300 pounds...

Hi shorty...Sorry..couldn't resist...I have 2 APIs...Grand Slam Supreme...
I think they got bought by Bass Pro...anyway the Grand Slam Extreme listed in Bass Pro is the same size as my Grand Slam Supreme (23 1/2 x 32)...and its plenty big...I'm 6ft 5inches....250 something....It weighs 23 pounds, so its still fairly easy to tote...the next size up weighs 30 pounds...Thats too big and heavy...I would also suggest getting the shooting rail...I have one on each of mine...That is where API has it over the Summit...Good Luck...

At 6'-0" and 255 lbs. I was debating this very issue as well. I ended up ordering the Summit Goliath from Cabela's this past Sunday, and when I got home from work today, my stand was here!!! I always liked the Summit line of climbers, and I prefer the front bar like the Viper X5line has. The Goliath is 2" wider on the top section, beefier, and rated for 350 lbs. It's also only 1 lb heavier than the regular Viper. Can't wait to try it out this weekend!! Now I just have tosell my two hang-on stands.

I have an API Grand Slam Shooting Star. It has a removable front bar which stays off of it. Im 6'4 325. The only problem I have is that my hips are wide enought to where they rub on the padding a bit when I stand. The stand isnt rated for that, but it holds nicely. As long as it is set level it is as stable as can be. Im not advocating using a stand rated for less than your weight, just saying that it works for me.
