Default Im moving,,, arrrggggg dang heat.

Rifle season starts this sat.. Every weekend I have gone out with my bow and it has been brain boiling hot. I have seen nothing but one small 6 point and a scrawny doe. Neither one was worth shooting. Once rifle season starts here in Texas, it is impossible to get on decent deer with a bow or at least on my land. Im surrounded by people who shot everthing and do not practice very wise deer choice,. Once rifle season opens,my neighborsmoveall over the place scaring deer everywhere, you need a rifle to make any shot. Flat, treeless land is not the best for stalking deer.Im going out this weekend for what will probably be my last bow hunt for deer this season and it is suppose to be in the high 80s. This will be the second bow season I have had that has went with out me tagging a deer due to the heat. I alway fill my tags during rifle season, Im just frustrated because the last two bow season have offered nothing but 90+ degree temp..

Sorry for the rant, had to vent a little. I cant complain, I have arrowed three hogs and one rattle snake so far, as well as squashing a million mosquitoes

Same thing in Missouri. This is the last weekend before rifle season and we are expecting lows in the 50s and highs in the 70's. A little cooler than texas but not by much.

What do you do, I have to go, cant sit at home and wish for cooler weather.

We are pushing back our Iowa trip a little so hot MO here I come!

Good Luck

florida's just as bad...try gettin' a remlite or stalker lite outfit...trek lite are the same as remlites....it's basically all i wear anymore...definitely worth it.

also try getting a backpack with a water bladder in it...you can freeze them and have ice water most if not all day.

hope it cools down for ya.

Yeah the weather sucks, here in Oklahoma it has been in the 70's and the wind has been blowing 20 mph. Scent-lok doesn't due much good when your covered in sweet from just walking to your stand. Deer movement is keep to a minimum w/ these conditions.

I'm praying that the front we get on Sunday cools things off some. I'm taking off work on Monday so I'll be hunting three straight days hot or not. My lease also has neighbors that will have the place sounding like a shooting gallery. I thought about taking my rifle or ML on Saturday morning but decided against it. I have a treestand set up on a travel corridor that sees a lot of action every year when gun season starts. The trail leads to thick cover on land that is never hunted, it's a sanctuary every year and I'm going to try to nail one moving over there.

It never fails. Every year I save up my vacation to hunt the rut, and then this dang heat starts up! [:@]

It's forecast for high 70's for the next 4 days and then only slightly cooler next week. My wife doesn't understand why I get so mad about it since I already have 4 does in the freezer, but now I want a couple BIG bucks and they're laying low during the daytime heat, even though the rut is starting.
