I had the chance to Antelope huntfor the first time in Cheyeene Wy. They offer aOTC doe/fawntags for 29 bucks Non Res and $25 archery license. My buddy and I bought these "Pro Pods, they're like a second and third leg for your bowwhile hunting in a blind. It attaches to your lower limb keeping a arrow nocked and ready in a moments notice. On the directions is specifically tells you to not shoot with this thing attached to your bow...duh! Well, in all about 10 seconds I had peeked out the blind, saw doe, picked up bow, drew, released, and much to my belief didn't see the arrow go downrange. The reason I didn't see it was that it didn't take the track I aimed at. Dropping my bowarm and nocking another arrow I noticed this thing still attached to my bottom limb!!! Arggggg!!!! In the end the first arrow went through her femoral artery and she went about 10 yards. I will NEVER shoot my bow with that thing attached EVER again. Lesson learned...BIGTIME

on oct 9 i shot a doe at 20 yds in a bean field...she ran about 50yds, fishtailed a few times and went down...i was at full draw for about a minute and was not able to get down safely because my body was shaking from holding that long....the trailing is easy when you can do it from your stand!!!!

I shot my first deer Oct. 30th, the last day of the archery season in my region of Tx. I shot her at 5yds quartering away. Double lung shot. I watched her run about 40 yds into the pasture, turn a couple of circles and lay down for the last time. I waited 1/2 an hour and then went to take a pic and get to work. I also thanked my creator for sharing that doe with me. An experience like none I've ever had with a gun. General season runs Nov.5th to Jan.1st. I'll be bow hunting during the gen. season.

It was about 2 weeks ago I was sitting in the rain when a big doe for my area about 90 lbs dressed came out to feed. Well she began trotting up toward me and stopped at 27 yards (ranged) and looked back, when I first saw her I stood up cause I knew about where she was going, I drew right before she stopped broadside and right before I got the pin settled she made a soft grunt, when she did this little fawn that could have weighed about 45 lbs total came running up to it. I passed on the doe because I felt if I would have shot her the little one wouldn't have survived, oh well last week I saw a real nice 8 or 10 not for surewith about a 20+ inch spread come to about 25 yards and stop slightly quartering away but limb blocked kill zone.Passed up 2 shots one bad one for future reasons and still have time to find him again

Since I just recently posted my story on my buck from two weeks ago, I'll talk about my doe instead. This was about a month or so ago. I was set up along an oak ridge that bordered a horse stable. I had pushed out a deer on the walk in at 3:30 PM and hoped that this wouldn't affect my overall success. Anyway, got up in my tree and played the waiting game with the 5,000 squirrels in the immediate area. At about an hour before sunset, I saw a lone 4 point move into my shooting lane. I figured "let him grow" and waited. Then about 30 minutes later, two baby fawns appeared and they were heading somewhat towards my shooting lane. I figured that momma wouldn't let these two get too far away so I started preparing for the shot that surely would come. Anyway, the fawns steered away from me and momma finally came out straight into my lane and turned almost perfectly broadside. I waited until she looked over to see her fawns and launched my arrow. It was a 27 yard shot. The hit was perfect and she took off light a bolt of lighting alright, straight to the base of my tree. She layed down almost immediately and licked at the wound. The fawns mewd from a short distance away but momma wasn't responding. The doe expired after 15-20 minutes. I must admit, I had a hard time finding blood to track, with her laying on top of it!

A good ending, my son shot at a 5 point this past Saturday evening just before dark and the deer jumped the string. The shot hit farther back and lower than he wanted. Thedeer made two bounds and then walked out to about 60 yards and stood.
It was still just standing there when it got to dark to see him. My son called me on his cell phone while still on stand and ask my advice on what he should do. I told him to stay put for a while then get down as quite as possible and get out of there without checking for blood or the arrow. Well he couldn't resist and checked the arrow before coming in to the house. It was covered with gut so we decided to let the deer go until the next morning. The next morning 5 of us went out figuring on a long day of looking for his buck. We found good blood where he stood and he was dead in his bed about 80 yards away and still had body heat in him over 12 hours after the shot. Skinned him out and wash the inside of the ribs and he was in good shape. Arrow caught the very bottom of one lung. I think we made the right decision to wait until morning other wise we probaly would have put him out of his bed and lost him. One for the good guys! 142lb 5 point
