RE: The Homosexual Buck
Pistol Pete,
I am also in Dubuque right now, at work. I probably work next to your college. I work next to the newer restarant 'Rafters'. Where do you go to college? |
RE: The Homosexual Buck
I hope you two don't "hook up", lol

RE: The Homosexual Buck
Kro,
I suspect as the others have stated that the odds are your buck simply didnt have the ever so motivatingandoh so crucial estrus phermones of a doe present.....to entice him in. Yet there is some meritfor a very small percentage of super "secretative whitetail bucks thatannually opt out of the rut. From a biological standpoint, these secretative bucks produce very low amounts of testosterone and simply live alife of feeding and surviving. There are several documented cases of several larged racked bucks of which have been harvested inwhich that fall into this catagory of low testosterone producing bucks. They grow enourmous antlers due to the fact that they are void of many of the stressers that coincide with the rutting ritual. For example...they take on the body type of that of a steer(minus testosterone)in the cattle world versus a bull (testosterone rich).David Morris has a chapter on these secretative bucks in his book. "Strategies for Hunting Trophy Whitetails. It's very interesting to say the least. Best of luck the rest of the season. |
RE: The Homosexual Buck
Yes, and the rut isn't quite in full swing yet. I would say next week he would have shown more interest.
|
RE: The Homosexual Buck
I think he smelled a rat (rat trap)...
|
RE: The Homosexual Buck
Was the rack really small and odd? Maybe a racked doe???
|
RE: The Homosexual Buck
loras. the place where u work has the fountain park sign. we just redid the signs there last fall. how odd is that. have a good one. Pete
|
RE: The Homosexual Buck
Rut is not in full swing, especially in SW Wisconsin. Probably showing signs of it near but, you a have a week for two before its gets better.
|
RE: The Homosexual Buck
You must be hunting around the Madison area.

RE: The Homosexual Buck
Krojemann...I a VERY similar thing happen to me today!! I was watching an 8 point buck and a doe walk around, the buck clearly interested in the doe. All of a sudden, the buck just lay down for like 20 minutes and watched the doe! It was a crazy thing, and also in Wisconsin, like yours. By the way, where in WI did this happen for you?
