acorns

who here knows the difference between the acorn types? I believe that the deer have eaten most of the white acorns (big suckers). I think I have found what appears to be a white acorn and red acorn grove tha tis dropping. the acorns I have found are small and darker than the others. the ones I think are smaller white acorns are just that, smaller, yet almost of the same appearance. I have to get a book on how to identify different trees. anyone have any tips?
