Anyone use a game finder? Are they a waste of money or are they a good investment?

On our last hunting trip we shot a doe, unfortunately it was a gut shot and there was very little blood to track. Wewere in fairly tall grass and could not see her in the grass. we know she fell in this field and thankfully we eventually found her (after many hours of looking) on the ride home we started to talk about game finders and if they would help in a situation like this one.
