Nice Kansas Buck
#1
Had a great evening hunt. Got to my stand at 3:45 cloudy with light drizzel off and on. At 5:00 I did a soft grunt sequence becauseI have noticed the bucks being more agressive. Didn't call any more, didn't want to spook anything. At 5:30 I saw abrown spotabout 150 yds away across a hay field. It moved and I saw rack. Looked like a shooter even from that distance. He headed right towards my set up. About a 100 yds away he started beating the heck out of this tall grassy patch out in this hay field. He worked on that for I guess 5 minutes. In my mind I debated weather to grunt or not and decided not to. He was comming my way before he started whipping that bush and I thought he would resume his path. Sure enough he started heading right for me and closing in quick. At 30 yds I drew my bow ever so slowly and he didn't notice still walking right for me. By the time I got drawed back he was 10 yds. I aimed and let it go. Thawck. The buck jumped just a little bit and walked over to a fence line and steped over it and stoped looking left and right. I thought Man I couldn't have missed him and a sinking feeling was comming over me. In the few seconds I thought I missed. I was grabbing for my grunt tube to try and get him to come back when he finally took a step and his back legs buckeled a bit. I knew right then I hit him hard. The shot was so close I couldn't follow the arrows path. He took 2 more steps and laid down. Not 20 yds from me this buck died within a few minutes. His gross score is 156 3/8
