a lot of that land was my wifes great grandfathers, the king boys gunned him down and took the land Ahhh the old west
If I let something like having land stolen from ancestors keep me from hunting a place, I'd never be able to hunt. Everywhere there is a white man today, some Indian was gunned down to take the land.Ah, Manifest Destiny.[8D]

Would I go on a free hunt at the King Ranch? I might be crazy, but I'm no idiot. I'd be packed and in the truck in less than record time.[8D]

That's great! If enough people had your attitude, then maybe I wouldn't have to wait for someone to come offer me a free trip to the King Ranch. Keep up the good work.

If i had the option of the hunt or the cash value, i'd be all over that cash. But if it wasthe trip or nothing, i'd go. Good food and lots of pretty pen raised deer.

Aggie, its because most of the guys on this site are from up north (that explains alot). There use to hunting out of tree stands on 5 acre lots, watching trails and killing the first 1 1/2 year old buck that walks by.

Of course I'd go on it. I won't turn anything down that's offered to me free.

As far as ever going otherwise, forget it. I'm not a millionaire. I can't afford it.

Sad that the cost for shooting a good buck are so expensive. Hunting used to be the common-man's sport. That ranch sounds like it's for elitists.

I'll just try to shoot my big bucks, by asking permission, by paying for a cheap lease, or by hunting my own property.

Alot of the things that people do in Texas are illegal and called poaching in many states. Some people have moral & ethical reasons not to hunt the way Texans do.
These are some of the things that stand out to me.
1. Shooting deer that can not escape an enclosure is not fair chase hunting .Shooting penned deer is wrong.
2.Shooting deer from a truck window is wrong no matter where you are ,it is wrong.
3.Baiting a white tailed deer is not right.Baiting waterfowl was outlawed a long time ago becase it creates birds to easily killed,it is time to outlaw baiting deer also.

These are just three reasons that I thinkmake Texas hunters look bad. There is very little public land in Texas so anyone that wants to hunt has to pay these fees, this being the case young hunters are taken to these ranches and their dad buys them a deer and when they grow up the cycle is repeated , now if you have grown up in Texas this is how you think hunting should be done.
And in Texas that is how it will always be done.
