Default Which bow is best?

I am just getting into the bowhunting scene my father has bowhunted alot in the past. We went last weekend to shoot his bow and he gave me a try, and i shot exceptionally well.I actually shot better then the old man. he has a Pearson's Flame compound bow. I was wondering which Mathews compound bow is a good one for Hunting as well as for a little bit of competition shooting? Would love the feedback.

Be prepared for the can of worms you are opening, and a lot of questions back at you. Your going to get everything from "Go to your pro shop and shot a bunch of bows", to Every bow on the market being the best. To answer your question directly, I shoot an Outback (last years Switchback) and I absolutely love it for hunting, but I don't do any competition shooting unless you consider putting $5 on who shoots better while I'm practicing w/ my little bro.

Its just like anything ,You have to find one that you like and is a good quality, and see if you like the sport..I shoot a Mathews Switchback and it is a very nice bow,but the last new bow i had was in 1993,so i was due for a upgrade, its short and super quite and is a great tree stand Rig.And for comp. shooting it is good enough for me.. My hunting Buddy has a lot longer reach, so he went with The Mathews Ovation a little less expensive, and longer, but they say it more forgiving of a bow than the shorter ones he has great success hunting with it and is very accurate target bow..There is so many good bows out. Its going to be your choice I shot bear ,and had a Oneida Eagle for Years and They Harvest deer just as good as My Mathews,Not just as Quite ,Smooth and Strong as My Mathews Good Luck

Yeah really....you'll get a lot of different answers with this one, all will probably be the same. I'd say get one that's not too expensive if you're just starting out so if you don't like it anymore it won't be too much of a lose, and get one that fits you well.

Mathews Switchback

You should give the others a try, but if you are like me, the SB is the hands down winner. Shot mine in 3D some this summer and did well. Seems like some Pro shooter set a record with a SB this year.

There isn't a "best". Everyone may have a personal preference but it all depends on what feels good to you. All the top brands will be good bows. I shoot a Mathews Q2 and I like it better than any other bow I have shot. Even the newer Mathews. Shoot as many as you can then decide.

There are way too many bows out there to clearly say one is the best. If that were the case we'd all be shooting the same bow.

If you're looking at Mathew's then the Switchback is clearly the best hunting bow they currently have. Though they are expected to announce their new 06' hunting bow any time now so that may change.
