I Scored on the WV Opener!!!
Well opening morning started off really bad, but had a great ending.
As I've stated before most of my hunting is done on public land, so Saturday me and my dad and brothers headed to our opening day land and it was loaded with other hunters, so things got off to a bad start. After seeing nothing in the morning a switched stand locations to one of my favorite oak rideges. Early in the afternoon a lone doe fed thru about 150 yards down the hill. After 1-1 1/2 hours she fed her way onto my flat and up to the ridge without offering a good shot.
Nothing else movedfor 3-3 1/2 hours and i looked down on the flat where the first doe was feeding and there were 2 more does feeding so I stood up and got my bow ready. They fed around for a while and then for some weird reason one of the does started trying to chase the other one off. Well as luck would have it she got on a trail heading up my way. I let her get in a opening about 35 yards away and came to full draw. I bawled at her and when she stopped I let'er fly. Thearrow entered high and exited low taking out both lungs and the arter right below her spine. After a veryy short tracking job I found her, no more than 40 yards from where I shot her.
Sorry no pics butthe fresh backstrap was good fried up Sunday. My muzzy went between 2 ribs on enterance and completely shattered a rib on exit.
