Default First deer....

Tonight a five pinter came down the trail at five yards i drew my bow and stopped him...I aim and guess what I shot over his back...The pain lol..I didnt think about my elevation in the tree or him only being ten yards away...I shot over his back and misssed by about an inch in perfect line with the lungs and heart...On a high note lol...he didnt run he walked off so i may have another chance...And this time rember to hold under...

Oh boy, do I so feel your pain. It's not as easy when it's a real deer, is it? LOL..no, it isn't. Missing is very easy to do. I am glad you aren't getting down about it. Get back out there. The only way to learn is to do it. Good job!

Funny how you can kill the target every time, but put fur on it and it shrinks to the size of a pea. lol

Same thing happened to me this weekend. I was hunting on the ground just sitting on a chair behind this bush. And then behind me this buck was walking parallel to me and I barely had time to shoot but I was at a position like you would be in for cracking your back and I felt so sure about the shot.....I aimed a little high just because most of my other misses have been low and guess what happened. Yup, my arrow skimmed less than an inch above his back. I have a lot of troubles hitting deer just because I'm never patient. I always squeeze off the shot too early before I'm ready and I shake A LOT.

man , I really feel you pain. I shot a nice 6 pt. the first Tuesday of our season. he came in and I stopped him at 20 yards. broadside.I tripped it and he jumped a couple jumps and stopped.just stood there.a min or two he started back to feeding.he came around and I though I was gonna get another shot, but it never came.I watched him for 20 min. then he walked off.
I never even found my arrow.I did find the cock feather (or Vane) about 20 yards to the right of where the deer was standing. I don't know what happened.if it came apart as I shot and the arrow went wild or what. I just don't know what went wrong.[:@] [:@] [:@]

HoytMT....my husband taught me "less is low" which has helped a lot. Less than 20 yards, aim just a little low. that might help you.
