Thanks texastracker, I feel pretty confident in my chances this year, I had a lot more time to scout and set up stands than I did last year. Last year I did not even move to the area I hunted until the end of August and between unpacking, helping getting the kids settled into school and work I had very little time to find a place to hunt and very little time to do any scouting or stands. I wound up getting a buck during gun, but this year I have a great piece of property with everything you could ask for, a stream, a river, 5 fields all divided by treelines, one area that is teaming with oaks and even a pecan tree thrown in for a little flavor. I scouted quite a bit with my twins and set up 6 stands and have seen a ton of deer there, no bucks, but plenty of sign of them and as we all know, where there are doe there are or will be buck.

I wish all of you luck, I will be hunting all next week(except when honey does need doing).

Good luck, Taz!!!

I'm all set too. Tomorrow morning, I'm going real early to the WMA and (hopefully) get the spot I had last time. I just got back from Wally World and picked up a really cool umbrella/blind for a tree stand that doubles as a ground blind. I'll spray it down tonight with scent-free spray and leave it outside for the night, and also spray down my nylon/mesh lightweight pullover & pants set.

Late tomorrow afternoon or hopefully on Sunday, my daughters want to take my old Marlin .22 and have us go out target shooting back at the WMA. Man, you should see my one daughter shoot that .22 - she can punch out the center bullseye at 50 yards!

Butch from what I hear the WMA's don't get much pressure during bow, especially if you get off a day during the week. Oh BTW I will be hunting right across the Rappohanock from Phelps WMA!! River is real shallow there so maybe some of the folks in Phelps will run some extras over my way. BTW my tiwns when they were nine fired my smokepole twice each, with 100 grains of powder shooting 260 grain sabots! They both cut a 9 and an 8 at 50 yards and considering it wasn't fully sighted in they did very well.
