what do you set your bow at?
i hear talk from a guy at a archery shop in hanson MA. that their is no need to set your bow at 70lbs. he says 50lbs is really all you need for shots out to 30yds.
my cousins husband said last year he has his set at 47lbs and he takes 3 deer a year during the maine hunting season. i have no problems pulling back a bow that is 70lbs but is there really a need for 70lbs? |
RE: what do you set your bow at?
I myself use a Bear recurve and is a 50 lbs pull, my hunting buddies all use compound's and they have thier's set at 70 or 80 and they like it, i guess if it work's for ya use it, but i have taken alot of deer and like i said all i have ever used is a recurve

60lb I use only what I can handle when I am in a strained position and I feekl 60 is more than enough....

RE: what do you set your bow at?
60 lbs, an incredibly long draw length (im 6'6") and 75% letoff. Ive pulled up to 90, but dont feel the need for anything more than 60 for deer.

RE: what do you set your bow at?
65# weight, 65% letoff, 30" draw length. It's an older PSE Centerflite (lefty model) that I got off Ebay. I had it thoroughly checked out by a shop when they got it setup with sights, rest, etc...

RE: what do you set your bow at?
My Q2 is set at 57 lbs. It's not too difficult to pull 70 lbs, but there is a good chance that you will have to hold it for quite a while before you actually get the shot. Whatever works for you.

RE: what do you set your bow at?
I shot 70# ever since I started bowhunting until I tried my friends MQ1 set at 60#. I put 60# limbs on my PSE Durango and I could hold along time without shaking.
