Went out this am before work. I set up just off an area that I know is traveled. I decided to use some diluted vanilla spray as a cover. About 7:10 I blew 2 soft grunts. 5 minutes later to my surprise a medium sized doe pops out from behind me. She was a touch wary, but she stayed in the open, quartering away. I took the shot, 15 yards (after having to reposition my arrow on the rest). She took off like she had been hit hard. I get down and find what?--a bloodless arrow with a few fine hairs(maybe 10). All I know is that I forgot everything I had been practicing over the past 3 months: smooth draw, anchor, aim release and follow thru. Its back to the practice range for me.

you have to understand that when you pratice, it is hard to duplicate what goes on when you have a live animal. to be sucessful you have to go to bat several times before you will get a good hit, so to speak. good luck.

If you are hunting from a treestand, make sure to bend at the waist, if you drop your arms, you will always shoot low. If you bend at the waist, you will keep your practice form and the arrow will fly right were you are aiming. I know this from personal experience, shooting right underneath a deer at 10 yards, but that is the fun of bowhunting. You sometimes remember your misses better than your good shots. Good luck.

Just be thankfull it was a doe and not a P&Y. Misses are gonna happen when it comes to bowhuntig so all you can do is learn from your mistakes, pick yourself up, and go on. Good luck to you on the next one.

It's probably happened to most of us. I missed a turkey a week ago that should have been a lock. I thought it was 20 yards and it ended up being at 26 yards. I held dead on with my 20 yd pin and nicked a couple of feathers off of it's belly. Before I could get a second arrow drawn, it was out of range.
