What happened ?
Last night dad shot ten point buck at 6:00pm (it get dark at 7:00pm here in mo) at 30yd broadside, he gets out of his stand at 6:30 to see if their was good blood he picked up the arrow to see 4” of the tip broken of and a little meat and hair in side the shaft of the arrow . He looked all over and could not find a drop of blood. What could have happened ? Here is his setup. Parker UL 31 70# 28” drawl ICS hunter 400 Spitfire 100 grain P.S. This set up has killed many deer |
RE: What happened ?
Just a guess, but I would say the arrow hit some pretty heavy bone and never reached/missed the vitals. How did he feel about the shot? Did he think it felt like a well placed shot??

RE: What happened ?
Sounds like shoulder, how long is your dad draw length, how many lb does he shoot. How heavy are his arrows?

RE: What happened ?
Also was it a fixed blade or Mechincal?

Parker UL 31 70# 28” drawl
ICS hunter 400 Spitfire 100 grain The crazy thing is no blood if the spitfire brokethe skin thetheir should have been at least a littel blood. He has shot deer in the shoulder before with good results. |
RE: What happened ?
If you shoot a Spitfire, and hit the deer in the shoulder.........you're not going to have a good result! They're isn't much that that will blow through a shoulder bone, especailly not a mechanical broadhead.
Good Luck! |
RE: What happened ?
Make sure you read all the posts in "What to do after the shot" post.

RE: What happened ?
? I blow right threw shoulders with my mechanical spitires. Just got to put some juice behind them. The biggest mistake people make is using mechanicals with to low of a poundage bow people

RE: What happened ?
Hit the shoulder is my guess.
