Hi,
got my first bow kill last night. A nice five point walked out of a corn feild right under my stand. I spined him and he dropped. Makes it nice no tracking involved! But now i got the antlers cut of and i want to mount them on a plaque type deal that you buy at a sporting good store. My question is what do i do with the skull/brains to clean them or perserve them. Any info would be helpful. thanks

Boiling is the quickest way ,but yes an ant hill work's real well as well.

The brains go in the trash. SKin and work off all the hair and fat and skin you can on the skull. I salt it down real heavy until I can get to it. If you want it spic and span set it or rig it in a pot so only the skull part is in the water and boil slowly to cook and loosen up the meat and garbage. Becareful, you can over cook and the bone will get weak and you'll have to separate horns. After you cook just scrape and cut off what's left with a knife. Salt it heavy and leave it hanging somewhere safe for a couple days. Clean it off and mount it.
