u hunters with feild tipped quivers

ik some people bring a feild point in there quiver or junk arrow.. what if uve got 3 total arrows miss 2 would u use your field pnt if you had 2

No way, it would be to hard to kill a deer with a field point, and it would also be a slow painfull death. I carry afield point just for squirrels

RE: u hunters with feild tipped quivers

Absolutely not. If I miss twiceI would think twice before shooting again even with a brodhead. You have a responsibility to be proficient with your equipment.

umm i dont know. personally i carry a junk arrow that has a broadhead on it but if i was down to my last arrow and i had to finish one off i'd definitly shoot. not the most ethical thing to do but in the heat of the action i probably would.

RE: u hunters with feild tipped quivers

By all means no. You have a hard time as it is to find a deer shot with a broadhead much less a field point. I would never even consider doing that. Mine are there for coons and dillars.

Not even for small game. I've got blunts to take care of those guys. Besides, if I missed with 2 broadheads, I'd really start questioning if I really should even attempt another shot on a deer that day.

Not me, ever. I used to carry a field tipped arrow or two for squirrels or just to check my zero in the field but dont even do that anymore. I know a guy who got a suprise shot on the ground. He stumbled on an unaware deer & nocked an arrow, drew & shot. Nice hit, broadside right behind the shoulder. We looked for that deer for hours & only by luck we found it 1/4 mile away wth a pencil hole thru both lungs. If I'm hunting the only thing I bring now is broadheads, aint there to play games.;)

That sounds like a trick I pulled once, only instead of a field point I had a rubber blunt on the arrow.[&:]

I carry an extra arrow tipped with a used broadhead for taking a practice shot at a spot on the ground just before getting down from a morning hunt.. I would never, ever consider using it for taking a shot on a deer. In fact, when I shot a doe earlier this year and spined it, it required a second arrow to finish it. I used one of my shaving shrap broadheads for that job. I would never want to inflict unnecessary pain on a deer.

i always carry one blunt w/me incase of the odd occurence of a grouse but if i shot all of my arrows exept my blunt i would not use it!!!!! :D

When I'm hunting .... I'm hunting. I don't carry practice gear to the tree. Don't want any unnecessary motion or confusion. Besides that, I think you'll find a majority of the states say it's illegal to carry such things when deer hunting with a bow. The only legal arrow you can carry is one tipped with a legal broadhead.

if a person cant hit a deer with a broadhead tipped arrow why in heck would he or she even think of shooting with a field tip. its just wrong. if i missed twice i would be trying to see what was wrong with my equipment. or with me.

I dont have a junk arrow, I have a wasp jackhamer sst i use for turkeys and yotes. I would shoot a deer that i already hit with that. Its Brand new so...

Same here. I carry a few mechs, a few fixed and 1 blunt. If I missed twice I'd probably just go home.

You asked a question I gave you a answer! NO it is not legal or ethical I would not use a .22 either for these reaseons.

RE: u hunters with feild tipped quivers

When I first started hunting elk I use to have a feild tipp in my quiver until one night I was hikeing back to the truck and a bull stepped out 20 yards in front of me. I didn't take my eyes off him and grabbed one out of the quiver and shot. It was a good hit. I watched the bull run down hill threw a very open clear cut with bino's and saw him fall after about a 500 yard run. That got me thinking ?????? How did he go that far. We'll I looked in the quiver and sure as poop I shot him with a feild tip. I got back to hunting camp and I had a new nick name for several years (Field tipp) Upon going to the bull we didn't find any blood but it was dark if I had not seen him fall we would have never found him. I no longer carry any arrows that are questionable >>>Pieriod!!!!

Anyone who answers yes to this shouldn't be allowed to hunt. Besides being a really BAD idea, it is illegal in most states.

I do not carry field tips with me while hunting. If I am hunting for deer, I am going to hunt for a deer, not a squirrel or rabbit.

A field point for deer.....duh

I think that TeeJay's answer is pretty easily inferred from this statement. He wastryingto make it clear that the answer to thisquestion ought to be obvious to anyone with a lick of common sense.

My opinion is that any slovenly idiot who knowingly shoots a deer with a field point deserves nothing less than tobe drug out of the woods in handcuffs.

RE: u hunters with feild tipped quivers

Not only would I not do it, anyone that does should lose thier hunting license. For life. Here in MN its illegal, but it would also be unethical. If I didn't bring enough broadhead arrows in the field, I am not going to make a deer pay for my dumb mistake.

RE: u hunters with feild tipped quivers

I would definently never shoot an animal with a feild tip but it is good idea to carry a feild tipped arrow with you. There is no better practice than shooting at things in the woods instead of a range. I also carry a couple of unassembled broadheads in my pack should i ever absolutely need to use my feild tipped arrows. Another thing is if you carry feild tipped arrows hunting put them into your quiver backwards to make sure you never accidentaly shoot them at an animal.
