I've bowfished down at Lake Evergreen (Comlara Park) in the Kappa areaseveral times. The park is loaded with deer..... and you can hunt there.... but it's antlerless only.

Being doe-only hunting, the parkgrows some giant bucks.

I imagine the guy who got this monster was hunting on property near the park.

Lucky guy. I'm jealous.

I'd shoot then fall over and die of a heart attack. More like my heart would blow up in my chest but yeah.

I currently live in Bloomington and was also considering hunting some of the public land nearby. What a monster that one is. I have some friends in Hudson, about 10 miles north of Bloominton, near Evergreen Lake and they see some real monsters. My wife teaches at an elementary school on the south side of town and she called me the other day when there was a 160 class 10 pointer in the school yard at 12:30 in the afternoon. Definetley going to have to look closer at the hunting opportunities around here!

That is an awesome buck.

I had a friend in Kansas who had one like that come within 50 yards of his stand and bed down. My buddy decided he wasn't leaving the stand until the buck moved again. About 11:00am his hunting partner got worried about him and walked up to the stand to make sure he was alright. The deer ran and so did the guy on the ground. A week later a guy on the next property shot it. It was the number 4 buck in the world at that time.

I got a forwarded email about the same deer with the exact same photo. Here's what I got:
This is a huge buck from around El Paso that was taken by Brent
VanHoveln. He had seen it Oct. 1, 2, and harvested the buck on the 3rd.
It was around the Mackinaw River and he had been seeing it in a bean
field. He shot it at 23 yards and double lunged it. It went 60 yards.
They estimate that it may score around 230 P&Y but they are not sure.
It is a 28 pointer (11 x 17).
The buck was in the field about 150 yards out.......then two smaller 2
1/2 yr. old bucks came into the field and started sparring; just
clicking their antlers together. The guy pulled out his call and turned
around and hit it. The buck looked up and came running right to him.
He almost got busted trying to adjust his camera so he could get it on
film.
He was moving it when the buck was 50 yards out. He stopped and looked
right at him, gave him the head fake, stomped twice then put his head
down
and came right to him.
