.... you have a bruiser in range, you draw back, start to line up the shot, and cant see good enough through your peep to take the shot

Someone needs to invent something that will fix this problem and make us millions!!

It's also called shoot with both eyes open. To try and help you though, they make a peep with a 1/4 inch hole in it. Get that one.

The previous two suggestions are great but if I may ask...why couldn't you see through your peep? Was it because of the low level of light or because the peep didn't rotate?

wasn't on a bruiser, but i've had that happen before too. my pin lights up great and is easy to see in low light, but i just couldn't put it on the deer enough to call it an ethical shot, so i backed down. i haven't tried to shoot without a peep in a long time, but i remember that my accuracy and consistency went way up when i started using one. then again, i'ma lot more experienced and practiced than i was then, with better and more consistent shooting technique. is the peep sight actually overrated??

I actually do use a peep with a 1/4 inch hole. I also have a Trophy Ridge lighted pendulum sight but I was shooting at dusk and could see okay when not squinting through the peep but just couldnt make out the kill zone well enough to take the shot. Judgement call, I could have let one fly but decided against it for obvious reasons. The season is early and the best hunting is yet to come so no worries.

That is a good point. Even on a bruiser there is never an excuse to take a marginal shot. You will get hime next time.
