Help me make decision

Okay, 2 days to opener here in Oklahoma. This will be my first ever bow hunt as I am a newbie. This will be the earliest I have ever hunted whitetail. We planted some food plots in August, they are coming up nicely. When I scouted last week there were tons of tracks through the plots. I have a stand over the plots. I also have a stand in the hardwoods and there are acorns everywhere. Should I hunt the plot or is it too early (dont think they are hitting it yet there are lots of tracks) or should I stick with plan A and hunt the acorns? I hope to have some pics on here of my FIRST bow kill this weekend.

I am also a newbie but I think we need to know what time you are hunting?

IMHO I would not hunt the food plot if you looking for a buck. I would hunt the hardwoods because you may not get a deer but might see some action regarding the trails they use to go from food to bedding areas.

I would hunt the acorns.
The bucks would feel safer in the woods just before dark.. Mature bucks have a tendency to hang back until dark falls..

I would hunt the acorns in the morning, and hunt the food plot in the evening since there has been no hunting pressure on the plot. If you dont see anything on the foodplot the 1st evening , opt back to the acorns on the 2nd evening.

I would hunt the oaks first, they won't last long.I also think it would be your best chance for a buck of size.Good luck

Do NOT hunt the foodplot in the morning, you will boot everything out of there. Hunt the oaks. If they are between the food plot and the bedding area, you will probably have the deer from the food plot come visit anyways. I'd hunt the food plot in the evening. If no one has bothered the plot over the summer, the bucks will probably show up early to feed in them, after all they have not been pressured.

When acorns are falling, hunt them hard. Deer do not like to eat things that touch dirt and will eat acorns as soon as they fall. If they are on the ground for too long, deerdon't likethem. They know this and will concentrate on the acorns while they are falling.
