Im @ work & bored..heres one for you
Hello Ya'll,
I work 12hr shifts & work arotating schedule. Therforehave a lot of time to hunt. Anyhow, the one think that bothers me is when sitting in my stand, I try to look as far to my left & right as possible (slowly of course). This inturn relates to an ongoing neckache from Sept to jan. Like I said in the subject..Im @ work & just thinking of things to ask or run by you people. Does anyone else suffer from this?
Am I doing too much surveying? So far...I really cannot recall getting caught with my pants down & do not want to becasue I know its gonna be a big boy that rolls bye me when I start dazing off. Let me know whats on your mind.
Henny

Same thing happens to me. I usually leave with a sore neck.
I try to use my ears as much as possible. Try closing your eyes and just focusing on the sounds grasshopper. I think people depend to much on sight and lose the higher level of their other senses.

I also often have a sore neck. Listen to G2_Shooter's advise. If I hear something (especially behind me where my neck will get sore) I will close my eyes and just listen. You can actually hear a lot more.

I rely on my ears heavily as well and being that I am normally around 18 feet in the air,I can quietly shift my weight and slowly look behind me every so often.I have had the good fortune to hunt out of state the last 8 years and There are no hardwood tree's so no leaves, and you can't hunt with your ears nearly as effectively.I have had a few instances where I never heard the deer coming only to have it be directly underneath me.I am always like holy s--t how did this thing get on top of me with out me hearing it.Grunt or snap a twig or something!
