Forkhorn Or 4 Pointer?
#4
RE: Forkhorn Or 4 Pointer?
I didn't vote because to me they are two different racks.
A fork horn is a rack that has two points on each side, but no eye guards....a truely forked beam.
A four point could be either. A fork horn or a spike with eye guards.
Trust me, I know....why do you think they call me MR 4 Point...hehehe

That depends. If it has beams that sweep out and have a defined point coming of the beam I call that a 4 point. If it looks like a spiker with forks on the end...well, you can guess.

IMO, a 4 point has a clear main beam that extendssignificantly pastthe bay tinebut of course no brows. On a forkhorn the bay tine and theamount the main beam extends past the bay would be about the same. Call a fork horn a 4 point if youlike though, it doesn't matter to me but I think its more descriptive to differentiate between the 2.

Hi there, what I have noticed is that it truely depends on where you are from. Generally from the Mid-West to the East coast, hunters count all of the points on both antlers and would call it a four point. On the West coast or in the West, they count the points on each side and then call it what it is, a forky. Another example is a 3 x 3, 4 x 4 and so on.
