I hunt SD too, both east and west river I start rattling west river end of oct, early nov for east river, they seem to rut later out east.

I like to rattle beginning the first week of November. I had unreal success with rattling a HUGE 12 pt in last year during muzzleloader. I usually will grunt a few times. Then about 15 minutes later I will snort wheeze twice and then lock em up!! I repeat this every hour.
