Hi,
I feel your pain, as I've had things stolen as well. I don't mean to throw salt in the wound, but it wasn't legal to leave personal property on the tree on state land anyway. His property may not have been stolen, but "confiscated" by the local warden or ranger. I know that several times per year here in central Wisconsin, they go to the woods for the purpose of removing illegally left tree stands. He's kind of in a catch 22, because if he calls the warden and he has the cam, he risks receiving a citation, which would probably cost more than the value of the cam.

I totally understand how you feel. I had a game cam stolen a year and a half ago. It was in February for heaven's sakes. Who the heck would be out then?

Some folks are just horrible and have no respect.

Thats only a small taste of how low people will go. I am uneasy about putting mine on private land and would never consider putting it on public land. Not sure if it will detract anyone but I take an engraver and write my name and phone number across the front of it. At least that way you have a way of IDing it if it is ever recovered.........dabow

I know what you feel as well as your friend, some people just don't know where to draw the line. My friends stand got stolen, I was borrowing it for my Private Land hunting area, and someone took the Gorilla Stand, Climbing Sticks, Realtree EZ Hanger, the locks were cut that were holding the stand and sticks to the tree. Now I have to pay my friend back for the stand. I was piss**..........!

I had a Lone Wolf stand stolen. That was costly! It also waslocked but again someone went out of thier way to get bolt cutters to cut the cable! This was also on private land. When I got to my tree I thought I must be at the wrong one when I did'nt see my stand, but I knew this was the tree! What a sick feeling it was!! Some people just do'nt give a crap!

I have heard of people putting notes inside their cameras that read something like this.

If you find this camera and have not found the other 4, then I probably have you on film stealing this one. I will press charges so please leave it alone.

I doubt that this would work every time but it might be worth a try and there is always room inside the case for a note like this. If someone thinks they might get caught it could make all the difference in the world. I also think that engraving your name on the case is an excellent deterrent to theft.

Very common around here. I know of a guy that picked up 7 climbers one day while walking in the woods/ Then bragged about and how dumb hunters are

Sry to hear that, however I agree with heeze your buddy was only asking for it to get stolen on Public land. I would never attempt to hang it in anywhere other then private land.

Gouge out an area in the tree behind the camera, insert grenade, strap camera to tree and pull the pin. You will still lose the camera but gain some good fertilizer.

That definitely sucks. Never had my game cam stole although I was with a customer last week and he was complaining that someone had stolen the film out of his, not the camera just the film.

Thats incredibly low, no matter where you place it. Its not yours, DONT take or touch it, period. Common criminals are more abundant than one would think, even in the woods. Its a shame people dont respect other peoples property anymore. Some of you guys are even saying he had it coming to him for having in Public woods. Its a shame that some of you are basically condoning his propert being stolen because of it being located in public hunting land. Thank God I have 6 different private hunting properties andover 4,000 acres tio hunt. I feel for the honest guys that have to hunt Public land, and have these inconsiderate thieves sneaking around the same areas as you.

RE: Stolen game cam

Diesel77.......if people can jimmy doors and break windows etc, to rob you.......isnt it a tad silly to leave things in wide open and expect they are safe because thats the world you want....its a different world we live in...We didnt create this evil...WE inherited it. Know your quarry..know his habits....keep your eyes and ears open......Its just like hunting...IF you think private property land and goods cant be robbed..THINK AGAIN...
Funny thing ..its usually someone you know...or somebody that someone you know knows, ..Ya see...word gets around....just like on these forums....you think everyone here is a STRAIGHT SHOOTER.......think again ....dont give up your location and your goods on these pages........predators are foaming at the mouth as we speak....WAKE UP EVERYBODY..One guy said he know someone who stole 7 climbers in a day inthe woods...but did nothing about it.....maybe heeze part of the problem too.
His user name is CARDEER.. respected by some because heeze been around here since 2/12/2003...I find him suspect now...He could have given this guy up to the authorities and maybe those hunters would have gotten their property back.........Some people just talk a good game...
He'll read this ( or a member of his fanclub)and come back with some wisecrack disrespect....but it doesnt change the fact that he knew and did nothing ...that makes him an accessory after the fact..

Like I said...Not EVERYONE HERE IS A STRAIGHT SHOOTER....PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES

I always wanted to take the first picture of me holding a sign that says..

Dear Film developer, this is me and this is my camera. If the person who brought in the film wasn't me..I will give you a nice reward for calling me and telling me who brought in the film!

Of course with digitals this would be useless.

My dad just had a Camera stolen from his own back yard!

Im not saying Im suprised it happened Heeze. Im saying Im a little shocked at some of the replies.

Hell, you park your vehicle in public dont you? Do you expect it to get broken into or stolen wether its front of your house or at the mall? And, if it does your view is you should expect it since this stuff happens or tell someone, well you parked it in public so you get what you deserve, or, WAKE UP EVERYONE, there are criminals foaming at the mouth all around us.

Accepting crime is as bad as being part of it.

Again, sorry yourbuddys camerawas stolen, sorry some people dont sympathise with you because your buddyput it out at probablyhis only place to hunt, that sucks.

We had one stolen from us last year. Took out a full page ad in the local paper, stating that: We know who you are. You have24 hours to return it . And by the way, you didn't see the other camera .. The deputy gave us your name from the pic. It was put back on the same tree that night.

DEEZLE.......I never claimed to be accepting of crime....only aware that crime is in every nook and cranny...I dont like crime...But I know it dont like me either.....You gave no comment on CARDEERS reponse............are you one of his henchmen?? If not, then tell me how you feel bout this guyz remark. You did read it right..its above mine..Your not just gonna let that one go and ride me are ya?

Im giving info for crime prevention...hence...protect yourself at all times.....you sure your not one of his henchmen...you seem to miss the obvious too purposefully

Its a different world..with different comments ..stating the truth.. even if it stings a little...Look Id say the same to you if you were the victim....CRIME IN GENERAL.....BECOMES PERSONAL.......ask your local Law Enforcement....youll be suprised by their responses....trust me..I was.
Just a reminder ..Im a good guy.. no need to fight me...I agree with you,.. Ijust word it differently...PEACE TO YOU and good hunting 2

Heezle, nice. Now your are questioning me as one of the henchmen? Way to turn it around. That shows your true colors. CARDEER should have turned the criminal in absolutely. Im not going to get into a pissing match with you over my views because I can tell you are someone that thinks he's never wrong.

Deeze im not callin you a henchman ..asin one of the thieves.whose been stealing gear...( you are too cute to even come up with that from my words)...Read cardeers reply..I stated ..and quite clearly.. that you made no remark on a guy who knows aguy who stole and did nothing.......I dont want to argue....said that too..I agree with you ...said that too...

everybody uses this pissin contest phrase..(THAT THE NEW COOL TALK HERE NOW?) LET US NOT USE IT!! ..thats not what this is...this is a mere misunderstanding between two people on the same side...Ill wait for your response

Henchmen support a negative boss.Youve seen all the villians on BATMAN,, no doubt..I mentioned cardeer fan base in my previous entry...take the time to read ..then attack me ...I did nothing negative here...nor did you! lets be nize to each other

Lets not forget..we have the right to be wrong and Im always wrong...Your judging me and everything....could you be wrong.??..read all I said from the first post

you have to remember, not everyone has the luxury of being able to hunt on private land. Some guys are limited to public land and they to want to utilize cams to get an accurate picture on the size of the local bucks, i know its a risk, but its maggots like the ones swiping cams that give us ALL a bad name as hunters, because these are the same guys that will shoot deer in the beam of a spotlight at midnight, trespass, shoot deer from vehicles, steal stands, poach out of season, etc....

Dont assume cause I said state land that Im priveledged...Ya Dig?Common sense tells me( and me alone it seems) that the chances of something being stolen is greater on state land...see where I m going with this? Im aPOOR MANbut ..RICH in common sense..I know whats going on in the world..... PEOPLE STEAL EVERYWHERE....can you answer this question...what about the guy who knew about the guy who stole 7 climbers......any judgements on that????? Seems no one wants to deal with that ..easier to attack me.....that to me.. is weakness and again I know whats going on!!!

AND IN SUMMATION... I DONT LIKE CRIME or THOSE WHO AID CRIMINALS!! Now if you cant say something sensible...Ill understand that too.........I KNOW WHATS GOING ON......NOW CAN YOU ALL DIG THAT?

My buddy and I was hunting on public land last year and he had his Tree Lounge way back in the woods. Well, somehow it got gone. He was pissed and i was too but happy my climber wasn't stolen. We had a camera not too far from his stand. I'm surprised the a$$hole didn't see and steal that, too.
