Default Acorn Types....

OK, I know what White Oak Acorns look like. But I was walking through the woods yesterday checking out some new areas, and came across some Dark Brown Acorns almost round. Does anyone know what I was looking at..?? They were everywhere, and seemed to be eaten I assume by deer only because there would have to be TONS of Squirrals to eat that many...lol Anyway I was trying to figure out what they were, thought this might be a good place to ask...

I live in MD if that matters...

Thanks!

Possibly Red Oak? White and Red Oak trees and the two predominant species in my area.

Yeah it's Very Possible, I'll grab one next time I am in there... But After looking up Red Oak, it's possible that's what it is... Deer seem to be Tearing this place apart... I'll have to go sit in there this week see what's going on... Thanks man

Probably from a variety of red oak. There are over 50 variety of oak trees and shrubs in North America, check with your local forestry officials for the types in your area.
