Witch one has the most advantage. Hunting from a stand or on foot. I have always hunted on the ground with a rifle, but not sure about Bowhunting. Have you ever left your tree stand up in public land.

i like to hunt from a stand,i have a ladder in each of my areas i like to hunt but i also have the climber... for those days i dont feel like hoofing it or in case i need to be elsewhere... i try to get mine up a month or so before season , i lock it with a good cable and a good lock....only have lost one and i didnt lock it , my bad.

I'd go in with a climber and find a well used trail or a food/water source to setup on. And I wouldn't recommend leaving the stand in the woods unless you're hunting till dark and expecting to return before daylight the next morning.

If you knwe not many would be using the land or if others leave there's and it isnt stolen then I would consider leaving mine there. But most diffinately put a locking cable on it.Harder to cut the cable then it is to cut a chain. If you are unsure about it being stolen then I would use a climber.

I hunt public land a lot and would never even consider for one second leaving my Summit in the woods.........it would be gone in a heartbeat.
Use your stand for sure.........just take it with you when you leave

it is against the law in Wi to leave a stand or any other item on public land. The DNR will compinsate any stands and sell them at auctions. what you come in with, you leave with.

I've got three up on public land right now, but they are locked up, if someone wants to steal them they'll haveto bring a bolt cutter into the woods with them, and if they want to do that to steal my $35 stands then more power to them.

On public land, I would use a climber. The deer are pretty smart due to hunting pressure and you have to be very careful when hunting from the ground. A ground blind is a must. I use a Summit climber when I hunt public land. I left it one time when I hunted till dark on a Friday, locked it up with two cable locks and then got back in Saturday morning. Otherwise I would not leave it in the woods.
