Default Elk Steaks are in the making....

YAHOO!!!! Shot a Cow Elk Saturday night after 7 days of hunting in Unit 9, NM. Had plenty of raghorns answer the call early on, but nothing I wanted to shoot that early in the hunt. Had 5 bulls within 35 yards of me at one time (all 4x4 or less) Friday afternoon, what a thrill!!!! Saturday night was the last night of my available hunting time and she walked out at 30 yards and met my arrow up close and personal. My Hoyt UltraMag is now officially broken in.

Can't wait to throw them on the grill!

Hey guys, thanks!
mexhuntr - why didn't I shoot a bull? Hmmm...well...I guess I had put a restriction on myself to shoot only 5x5 or better...kinda like catch and release fishing...keep 'em in the "pool" so they can get bigger for next year. I am not saying I am hunting only trophy racks, but just letting the little guys get bigger. I'll tell ya tho', my hunting partner (only calling , not hunting this trip) was practically beside himself with all those 4x4 raghorns surrounding me after he called them all in (...just PICK one and SHOOT it will ya'?!!!)

.308hunter...yea, I got some pic's...tried to upload them but said the file was too big. Gonna keep on trying to squish it and get it up here.
