Storage Boxes
Ialways store/transport my hunting clothes in a rubbermaid plastic storage box and put them on right before I go to the stand. I realize these boxes aren't scent proof, but I throw my stuff in there with a box a baking soda, it also keeps my stuff dry to and fro. Anyhow, I was just in WallyMarts and saw a storage bin made by rubbermaid that had cedar wood shavings molded into the plastic, which I'm sure is designed to keep the moths away for "normal" human clothes. Myself, being "abnormal" was wondering if this may help impregnate my clothes with a cover scent. It smells just like cedar, and I use to cut small pieces for my bin, butthen just went straight Baking Soda. Don'treally know if the cedar helped or hurt. I know a lot will say go a scent free as possible, so I guess you recommend the regular plastic with baking soda? I'm sure deer are like yotee' dogs....they don't justsmell hamburger, but they smell the bun, lettuce, pickle, tomato, mustard, and ketchup. So, I guess they'd smell acedar tree and my abnormal self????????? What do you all think? I'm not looking for a play the wind and don't worry about it answer, let's say your going hunting and a northeastsouthwest wind is blowing....and your not staying home! Thanks.

I say don't go over board and play the wind. Yes stay as scent free as possible but the wind is the major factor. If it wasn't those big bucks wouldn't circle around to check the wind when they get leary.

Hard to play the wind card when the wind constantly changes. I was in the stand Friday and my wind gauge (feather tied to bow limb) was flying right and then left and then right again. No way to get "up wind" with that.
Are cedar trees in the woods you are going to hunt? If so then it wouldn't hurt...I don't think. It would if you don't have cedars otherwise you are bringing in a strange scent.

RE: Storage Boxes
Yeah, there's cedar trees where I hunt.....I think I'm going to buy one and put some clothes in it and see how strong the scent is. The reason I quit using the cut pieces is because the smell was overpowering....guess I need to back off on the amount of chuncks.
