Two eyes open are the only way to go. The left eye helps with depth perseption and ballance when your right eye is focusing through a little hole or "tunnel vision". Watch profesional archers, trap shooters, and rifle shooters and you'll notice they all have both eyes open

Usually both eyes open, however sometimes my focus shifts from one eye to the other and I need to close the left, but prefer both open.
