Thank the lord you only got out with a few cuts and bruises.
You are lucky you did not break something.
I have not fell from a tree well not since I was 5 anyway
Please be careful in future.

Glad to hear you are basically OK! I stepped off a treestand once, fell 16'. Luckily I did not get hurt at all. Guess I was a little excited about shooting a deer!
I slipped off of a stand once while wearing a waist belt. I was immediately upside down and pressed against the trunk of the tree so hard that it took me several minutes of struggling to get turned right side up again. I honestly think I would rather fall than go through that again!
Now I wear one of those seat o` the pants harness systems. They are nice. I am getting old enough now that I don`t think I would bounce very good anymore!

Keep them on and secured to the tree when climbing, hunting and descending.

bill glad you are all right, this year so far all of my stands are ground blinds so falling won't be an issue, I do have one tree stand on one piece of property I hunt, but I am saving that property for blackpowder because this one place I am bow hunting this season is full of deer, but he will only let me bow hunt so I will let the other place rest since I am the only one who hunts it.

Glad your alright. It's not the fall that gets ya, it's that sudden stop at the bottom!
