Default bad release?

So I buy this tru Fire "Judge" release, looking Fw to getting to use it. So I got out tonight and play with the trigger pressure and I have an arrow release prematurly! Scared the living chet out of me! Second arrow, fine, but the trigger is too light yet. I adjust it, 3rd arrow, releases prematurly again! I make sure my finger is behind the trigger as I'm pulling back. Don' tknow what's going on. Anyone else have problems with Tru Fire releases? Mine adjusts the trigger pressure by a dial.

I bought a tru-fire bear claw release last year.It had a set screw on the trigger, and I had to completely remove it,because it was too sensitive. From looking at your release on tru-fires website,it says the dial adjusts trigger pressure only, and you still have a set screw on the trigger.Back that set screw out on the trigger,or remove it completely, then adjust the dial to get your trigger pressure set right. This quote is from their site...here go check it out,and see if that fixes it.Hope I helped.

Sometimes I had to press my trigger to make sure it closed all the way. After awhile (once it was broke in) it worked fine.

I take the set screw all the way out and it won't even told the string. (testing on a showstring). I think I'll be taking it back

So typically you back the set screw out toincrease the pressure?

If it is made like all my releases have been made....There is a notch cut out on the trigger, and when you tighten the screw in it will make the trigger more sensitive,so sensitive that it won't even close if it is screwed in too much. When you screw it out then it should let the bearing wheel sit deeper in the trigger, and make the trigger less sensitive. Now with this new fangled trigger pressuredial you have I'm not 100% sure, but I really would have thought if you took the screw completely out of the trigger, and re-set the adjustment pressure dial that you would have been ok.It says the set screw in the triggeronly adjusts the trigger travel (hair trigger,or more pull),and the pressure dial onlyadjusts the trigger pressure.Could they get more complicated? What happened to the good ol set screw, and nothing else.I would have thought that if your set screw was screwed in too much it was making the release think you were pulling back on the trigger. So,that's what made me think that you should back it out.If you took the set screw all the way out,and it won't even hold on to the string then I would think you need to adjust the dial back, with the screw out,and see if that works.Hope I helped.

Thanks Ranchand. I might run by a local bow shop tomorrow and see what they say about it vs driving 60 miles round trip with the gas prices like they are. My old release is still functional, the velcro strap is starting to tear after 7 years of abuse, so at least I have a release.

I'm in the Jefferson City area. FYI, they opened a Bass Pro in Columbia, 30 min from Bonneville.
