Question, broadhead for low poundage youth hunter
#1
I am wondering if anyone has a good opinion of a broadhead choice for my 12 year old. She is pulling about 32 pounds and I am not sure which broadhead I should have her try. I would guess I am going to look for the lightest and a cut on contact head. I would greatly appreaciate any input!!

Probably best to stick with a 2 blade head like a magnus stinger. They are super sharp which is even more important when your only pulling 32 lbs. Shot placement is also key when pulling low weight so tell her to keep it in the boiler room and she'll do fine.

She has been shooting 3D for two years and one year of indoor. I am sure she can hit the sweet spot, if she can hold it together and comit to killing an animal!!! We will soom find out.

My wife is only shooting about 40#'s. I have her shooting 90 grain Muzzy's and a 2018 arrow. Her range limit will only be 20 yds max, but she should have plenty of punch with that combo. I say keep it as heavy as possible and keep the shots close.
Two years ago she shot a doe at 8 yards with a carbon arrow and a 75 grain expandable. It got the job done but I don't think it would of been to affective much farther away!

As said before, she should do fine with a two blade, magnus are a good two blade,, if she shoots close, 15yrds or closer she cant go wrong with a muzzy 100gr either.. just keep em sharp..

I would look for a 2-blade cut-on-contact head. Those require the least amount of energy to penetrate. I have no personal experience with them, but I have heard a lot of great thing about the B-52's by G5 Outdoors.

I noticed she is 32# draw weight you might want to check your regs. Here in Indiana you have to have 35# or more to hunt leagaly. Just thought I would let you know about that not that the 3# would make a difference. I hope she has great luck and a wonderful season.

32 lbs. is legal in WI as well. I shoot 40 Lbs. and shoot 100 gr. NAP crossfires. They are a great 3 blade head, very sharp, and they also spin to help straighten out the arrow. They fly just like my field points. I have not yet taken a deer with them, but I did take a turkey with them this last spring.

The 2 blade cut on contact is a good plan, but so is a small three bladed design. NAP Nitrons and American Broadhead's Sonics are excellent choices, particularly the Sonics as they are a cut on contact design (and the sharpest blades I have ever encountered as well!).
