Is the leafy camo the best cover for bowhunters ...it seems to breakup the human outline a bit more than the regular type....any thoughts?

I bought a set of the full body leafy camo about three years ago. I think it is the RealTree hardwood pattern. I put it to the ultimate test two years ago. I was hunting this field that came to a point on the west end. In the middle of the field was a patch of rock and short brush. I walked out to this area to see what would show up. I was kneeling down and my legs were going to sleep but some deer walked into the edge of the field just as I was going to stand up. I stayed there as long as I could but knew I had to move because there was no way I would get a shot off in the postition I was in. I remember thinking to myself "well I guess it is time to put this camo to the real test". I slowly stood up and the deer didn't see me. I had more deer come into the field behind me and straight in front of me. I had a total of 25 does feeding around me. Most ignored me, some looked at me and went back to eating. The amazing thing was some looked at me and started grazing towards me. I couldn't believe it. They would look at me, walk towards me a few steps and then eat some more. I was getting ready to stick a nice doe when a coyote entered the field and scared all of the deer away. I was going to shoot him but he spotted me and ran away. Anyway I am totally sold on the leafy cut camo.

I like leafy camo. It can only help in my opinion. I use a 3-D leafy suit from asat.

Leafy camo is outstanding for concealment very similar in design to a gillie suit used by military snipers. But I can see where the loose leaf pattern may interfere with string travel in some positions. I wear camo coveralls and always use an arm guard because they bunch a little around the sleeves. With obstructions hanging from the arms, chest area and collar the chance of string deflection increases dramatically. Outstanding product for the rifle and shotgun hunter, but not what I would choose for bow hunting.

I wear the ASAT 3D leafy suit as well. This will be my 3rd season with it. I've not had any problems with noise or interference with the bow string.

Because I do most of my hunting in the swamp, I use a BugTamer Plus with the fabric leaves on it. Doubles as very good camo, and the inside part of the sleaves do not have the leaves sewn on there so they do not get in the way of the string. I have also had deer look right at me and go about there business.

I have to agree that it blends in much better than non-leafy camo. I haven't really put either of my suits to the test yet but will try this season. To summarize your post though, the leafy camo works good for deer but not coyotes?

I also use the ASAT leafy camo, And I can say that I have gotten close to deer in the last three years because of the leafy pattern that I have without it.. the deer seam to just look at you and then go on about their way.. I highly recomend it...

i have the bps's bug proof 3-d suit and love it. i'm wearing it this weekend in the hot weather. the cool thing is is that you can then use it when it turns cold by putting it on over your layers.
