Default scentlok question

I typically store my hunting clothes in a plastic storage tub with leaves and cedar branches which gives my clothes a strong outdoors smell. My question is will my scentlok become saturated quicker by doing this? Thanks, Chris

Short answer is yes - but I'm afraid you are going to get the very long 12 page answer very soon [&o]

just make sure you store it in plastic that can withstand temperatures up to 1600 degrees

You can't cover up your scent. You can try and keep your scent down but can't cover it up. A deer can pick out the different molecules in the different scents. That's how they can pick up on the track of a deer that has crossed a dirt field hours earlier. If you put your nose to the ground all you can smell is dirt. Think how strong the dirt smell mustbe for the deer but they can still pick up on the very minute scent given off by the other deers track. The same goes for drug dogs picking out drugs when they are even put in gasoline.

So don't try to cover your odor but try to just keep clean as possible.

P.S. I think the scent suits are a waste of time also but it's your money.

Chris, the Scent Lok garments will absorb any odors while in storage. So if you put them in with cedar branches, etc. as you described then the garments will likely be fully saturated when you go to use them. The best bet is to get either a scent free bag or plastic tub to keep it separate from everything else.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I should have stated that I do store my scentlok in a plastic bag while in the tub. kybuckhunter, you wouldn't believe the steps I go through trying to be clean, my wife thinks I'm crazy. I don't let her touch anything I'll be wearing hunting (she wears perfume), shaved head (most is falling out anyway), baking soda toothpaste, no heavily spiced food, and the list goes on. I also use scent killer so to each his own. I don't know if they work, but I feel better hoping I have tipped the odds in my favor. I don't take them as a cure-all, I still play the wind while entering my stands and while hunting. Thanks, Chris

Sounds like your doing a good job. I was responding to LX who said thecover scent would do the job. I don't go to the extreme you do but I use unscented everything and sometimes the scent killers. Staying clean and use the wind is all we can hope for

If you are going to be wearing ScentLok, use NO cover scent at all....EVER. Eventhough keeping your ScentLok in a ziptop bag will keep it from saturating in storage, when you put it on, it will adsorb the scent of your cover scent, charging the carbon that much faster. When wearing ScentLok, the idea is to smell like nothing at all.
