RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
Illegal in PA....haven't used them, can't use them but I know I would like them and they are a great idea no doubt... PA has laws against casting a beam on the target for aiming purposes but how is a lighted nock illegal? Rob please direct me to this rule as I was thinking of trying them after hearing they make ones that fit A/C/C's What companies make ones that fit an A/C/C bushing!? I didn't even know they had that size. |
RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
Tracer Arrow makes the ones that fit a/c/c's - only 3-60's though. If you're shooting anything else you're SOL.
From the looks of the one I've got here in my hand you actually have to remove the uni-bushing that comes in the arrow and then install the portion of the nock that actually contains the light. Then you glue a traditional nock on over that. A bit of a process, and no adjustability once the nock is glued in place, but I believe it's gonna be work the trade off. http://www.tracerarrow.com is their website. |

Matt,
Not illegal to possess, like drugs, but illegal to use for hunting purposes. Also... how to build you own light nocks. http://hagshouse.ipbhost.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11825 |
RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
Not so quick......
We'll watch the ruling on Hunting PA.;)We can use lighted sight pins........I'm pretty sure as long as it does not cast a beam on the target in any way we're OK. |
RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
If you get busted, direct them towards this forum, and make sure you tell them Matt told you to use them. :p just kidding

RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
Not necessarily a downside, in fact to most it is not important, however if a person wants to enter their kill in the P&Y Book, an arrow with a lighted nock (as in electric)makes your kill ineligible for the record book.

Lighted nocks are a great tool for videoing your harvest also.....
I know four different scorers for P/Y and B/C and all have said that it is not against the club rules to use lighted nocks.... and as for the legality issues almost every state that I have hunted including Colorado they are legal to use... Most state laws , state the you can not cast a beam of light onto your animal....I.E; lazer's ,spot lights... lighted nocks do not help you to get a shot on a animal, ALL they do is amit a small amount of light to be able to watch a arrows tragectory...it does not aid in the harvest what so ever.... |

RE: Lighted nocks are the coolest things ever
Straight from the BOOK!! Texas that is...
Artifical Light.......of any form that casts or reflects a beam of light onto or otherwise illuminates a game animal or bird may not be used as an aid to hunt, EXCEPT that battery powered scoping devices that project a light or dot only inside the scope and pin sight lights on archery equipment ARE LEGAL DEVICES....Non -regulated animals can be hunted at night with the aid of artificial light on private property... and I called TPWD just for claifiaction on this topic on the lighted nock issue, ITs perfectly legal here in Texas to use Lighted nocks......... |
