tealboy I will back up what others have said, if a deer has not winded you, but feels something is up they will blow to try and get you to expose yourself. I prefer a doe bleat when a deer blows near me, whether it is blowing at me or something else, it does calm them down when they think "Oh it is just another deer", I am sure a soft buck grunt or a blow in response would work also, but I try to limit grunts only to a seen dominant buck and even then I will see if a doe bleat works to turn them first, when a buck is POed he does not come in, in a leasurily fashion.

Way to go Wooly35,
You have experienced The Ultimate Crawl version of deer hunting and those encounters are worth more than a huge trophy, (but a huge trophy would be a bonus though, LOL).
